Man Seeking Woman by Simon Rich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In a series of short stories, Simon Rich portrays the relationships between men and women in hyperbole and metaphor. His descriptions of boyfriends and girlfriends is nothing short of hilarious. For example, in one story, boyfriends are traded between girlfriends like athletes are traded by professional teams, complete with stats like “Accidental Insults” and “Sex Numbers”. In another story, a breakup is literally the end of the world.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read and a laugh. It’s good to remind yourself every once in a while that, while dating and relationships may seem like the most important thing in the world, sometimes we just need a change in perspective.
My only complaint is that I wish the book were longer.
This book has been adapted into a TV series, which is currently airing. Seasons 1 and 2 have 10 episodes each, and season 3 is Wednesdays on FX. It’s definitely a fun TV show as well.
